Haywards Heath Town turn their attention to cup action on Tuesday evening as the Bluebells travel to Billingshurst in the Sussex RUR Charity Cup.
Heath head into the tie looking to continue their strong start to the season and begin the defence of a trophy that provided one of the highlights of last season.
The Bluebells lifted the RUR Charity Cup during an excellent 2025/26 campaign, bringing the trophy back to Haywards Heath for the first time in 50 years, and Tuesday night marks the beginning of this season’s journey in the competition.
THE BLUEBELLS
Heath go into the game in good form following a 2–0 league victory away at Bexhill United last Wednesday.
After a goalless first half at The Polegrove, Charlie Towning opened the scoring in the 49th minute before Charlie Meehan wrapped up the three points with four minutes remaining.
Attention now switches away from league matters as we look to progress in a competition that holds some very happy recent memories for the club.
THE OPPOSITION
Billingshurst also compete in the Southern Combination Premier Division and will have home advantage for Tuesday night’s cup tie.
They come into the fixture following a 3–0 home defeat against Wick on Saturday, but cup football presents a different challenge and Heath will know there can be no room for complacency.
With a place in the next round at stake, we can expect another competitive evening under the lights.
CUP FOOTBALL RETURNS
The RUR Charity Cup became a special competition for everyone associated with Haywards Heath Town last season.
Winning the trophy was a proud moment for the players, staff, supporters and everyone around the club, but Tuesday represents a fresh start.
Last season’s success counts for little once the whistle blows, and the focus will be firmly on producing the performance required to earn a place in the next round.
